US-Iran Talks Continue as Both Sides Remain Divided on Key Issues

Negotiations between the United States and Iran remain ongoing as both countries continue discussions over a possible agreement. While officials have indicated that progress has been made, several major issues still need to be resolved before a final deal can be reached.

A senior commander of Iranโ€™s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Yadollah Javani, said Iranโ€™s opponents had misjudged the countryโ€™s capabilities and determination. Speaking to Iranian media, he claimed that efforts to weaken Iranโ€™s nuclear and missile programs had failed. He also argued that regional developments have shifted in Iranโ€™s favor.

Javani stated that the US must decide whether to accept Iranโ€™s conditions and rights or continue the current conflict. His comments come as diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington continue.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also stressed that Iran would not accept any agreement without clear and measurable benefits. He said Tehran requires tangible results before fulfilling its commitments. According to Iranian officials, trust remains a major issue in negotiations with the US.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Iran has agreed not to develop nuclear weapons. Trump described preventing nuclear weapon development as his top priority in any future agreement. He also emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route.

Reports from international media suggest Trump recently requested changes to a draft agreement negotiated by US officials and Iranian representatives. The proposed revisions reportedly focus on nuclear material and other security-related issues.

Iran has previously questioned several US claims regarding the negotiations. Tehran has demanded access to billions of dollars in frozen assets before moving toward broader discussions on its nuclear program. Iranian officials have also rejected suggestions about the destruction of enriched uranium stockpiles.

The Strait of Hormuz remains another major point of discussion. Iranian authorities say they have increased control over the strategic waterway. According to the IRGC Navy, dozens of commercial vessels have recently passed through the strait with Iranian security coordination.

Iranian lawmakers argue that the US is currently negotiating from a weaker position. However, Washington maintains that any agreement must guarantee that Iran cannot obtain nuclear weapons.

Although both sides continue to express interest in diplomacy, important differences remain. Officials from both countries have signaled that a deal may be close, but no final agreement has been approved. Further talks are expected in the coming days as the US and Iran attempt to bridge remaining gaps.
