A significant development has emerged in the ongoing Hill Park land dispute in Karachi, as authorities move forward with a detailed investigation into alleged encroachments and questionable land records.
Officials have begun examining the legal status of a disputed plot located within the Hill Park area. As part of the inquiry, a formal land survey has been launched to verify official records and determine the exact boundaries of the land.
Mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, stated that the plot being cited in the dispute does not appear in the original layout plan. According to him, available records do not show the existence of the contested plot within the approved development scheme.
He explained that construction activity at the site was reportedly justified using lease documents linked to PECHS. However, the original layout plan does not reflect the disputed plot number. This discrepancy has raised questions about the legality of the development.
The mayor further noted that a 1974 notification defines Hill Park as covering approximately 56 acres. He emphasized that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has never allotted any portion of this land to a private individual or organization.
To establish the facts, the civic authority has initiated a comprehensive survey of the Hill Park area in Karachi. The objective is to verify ownership records and determine whether any unauthorized occupation has taken place.
Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken if violations of the approved layout plan are confirmed. Officials said encroachment on public land will not be tolerated and legal measures will be pursued against those found responsible.
The case gained further attention after the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation rejected claims that it had approved construction on the disputed site. Officials stated that no no-objection certificate (NOC) or development permission was issued for the government-owned property.
According to investigators, an allegedly forged approval letter was used to support construction activities. KMC has declared the document invalid and launched an inquiry into all development work linked to the site.
The authority has also contacted law enforcement agencies, including local police officials, seeking legal action and a deeper investigation. Officials stated that no individual or private entity has been granted development rights over the Hill Park land.
The legal status of the disputed plot remains under review. Authorities say criminal proceedings may be initiated against anyone found involved in forgery, fraud, land grabbing, or illegal construction.
