US-Iran Tensions Trigger Major Flight Cancellations at Islamabad Airport

US-Iran Tensions Trigger Major Flight Cancellations at Islamabad Airport

ISLAMABAD: Operations at Islamabad International Airport were disrupted as regional tensions between Iran and the United States escalated. The situation led to multiple Flight Cancellations across domestic and international routes.

Authorities said the crisis affected airspace safety across parts of the Middle East. Air routes over Iran, Iraq, and Gulf regions faced restrictions. This forced airlines to change routes or suspend operations.

As a result, several Flight Cancellations were reported throughout the day. Passengers were left stranded as schedules were suddenly changed or suspended.

Airlines operating from Pakistan faced significant operational pressure. Increased security alerts, insurance concerns, and longer flight routes created further challenges for carriers.

The disruption impacted both short and long-haul services. Flights to Gulf destinations were among the most affected due to shifting airspace conditions.

By the end of the day, Flight Cancellations included multiple services to key cities such as Jeddah, Dubai, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and other regional destinations. Passengers at Islamabad airport experienced delays and uncertainty.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) cancelled several domestic and international flights. These included services to Gilgit, Quetta, Karachi, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur.

AirSial also suspended its scheduled flights to Jeddah. FlyJinnah faced disruptions on routes to Karachi and Quetta during peak hours.

Airblue reported cancellations of international flights to Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Jeddah. Kam Air also cancelled its scheduled service to Kabul.

Officials said the wave of Flight Cancellations is linked to ongoing regional airspace restrictions. Airlines are avoiding high-risk corridors and using longer alternate routes.

These rerouting measures have increased fuel costs and operational pressure. Insurance requirements have also risen due to security concerns in affected regions.

Aviation sources noted that flight schedules remain highly unstable. Airlines are continuously reviewing conditions before confirming departures.

Passengers have been advised to stay in contact with airlines for updates. Authorities warned that more Flight Cancellations may occur if the situation in the region remains unstable.
