Punjab Heatwave Intensifies as Temperature Likely to Reach 42°C

A fresh spell of hot and dry weather has taken hold across Lahore and several other districts of Punjab, signaling the start of another intense summer phase. Weather experts have warned that temperatures may continue to rise in the coming days, increasing the risk of a Heatwave across the province.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore is currently experiencing warm conditions with temperatures around 32 degrees Celsius. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, while the daytime temperature is expected to climb to nearly 41 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists say the weather is likely to become even hotter over the next few days. Nighttime temperatures are also expected to remain higher than usual. Minimum temperatures could increase from 26 degrees Celsius to around 28 degrees Celsius, making conditions more uncomfortable for residents.

The Met Office has forecast a further rise in temperatures during the next one to two days. If the current trend continues, temperatures in Lahore and nearby areas could reach 42 degrees Celsius by tomorrow. Such conditions may lead to Heatwave-like situations in several parts of Punjab.

Officials have advised citizens to remain cautious during the hottest hours of the day. People are encouraged to limit unnecessary outdoor activities, especially during the afternoon when temperatures are at their peak. Health experts warn that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other health complications.

Residents have also been urged to drink plenty of water and wear light clothing to stay cool. Special care should be taken for children, elderly individuals, and people with existing medical conditions, as they are more vulnerable during a Heatwave.

The latest weather pattern comes as Punjab continues to experience typical summer conditions. However, rising temperatures and warmer nights have increased concerns about public health and energy demand.
