The federal government has announced a new reduction in fuel prices, bringing some relief to consumers ahead of the upcoming week. Under the latest weekly review of petroleum products, the price of Petrol has been lowered, while the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) remains unchanged.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the revised prices will come into effect from June 6, 2026. The adjustment is part of the government’s regular weekly mechanism for reviewing fuel prices based on market conditions and other relevant factors.
Under the new rates, the price of Motor Spirit (MS), commonly known as Petrol, has been reduced by Rs4 per litre. Following the cut, the new ex-depot price has been fixed at Rs377.78 per litre. Previously, consumers were paying Rs381.78 per litre for Petrol.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been maintained at Rs380.78 per litre. No increase or decrease has been announced for diesel in the latest review. HSD is widely used by the transport sector, heavy machinery operators, and farmers across the country.
The Petroleum Division stated that the revised prices will remain in force for the next week unless another review is announced. The government continues to evaluate domestic fuel prices regularly to reflect changes in international oil markets and other economic considerations.
The latest reduction follows a significant decrease announced during the previous fuel price review. At that time, both petrol and diesel prices were cut by Rs22 per litre. Officials had described that reduction as temporary relief aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers.
Fuel prices have witnessed frequent changes in recent months due to fluctuations in global oil prices and exchange rate movements. These adjustments directly affect transportation costs, business expenses, and household budgets.

With the latest revision, consumers will see a modest reduction in fuel expenses during the coming week. However, diesel users will continue to pay the existing rate as the government has decided to keep HSD prices unchanged in the current review.
