Islamabad Reports 432 Kidnapping and Sexual Assault Cases in Early 2026

Police in Islamabad registered 432 cases of kidnapping and sexual assault during the first five months of 2026, according to official figures obtained by local media.

The data shows that from January to May, authorities recorded 377 kidnapping cases and 55 sexual assault cases across different police jurisdictions in the federal capital. The figures have sparked concerns about public safety and crime prevention in Islamabad.

Among the reported sexual assault cases, the Soan Zone recorded the highest number with 15 cases. The Sadar Zone followed with 13 cases, while the Rural Zone reported 12 cases. The Industrial Area Zone registered nine cases, and the City Zone recorded six cases during the same period.

Kidnapping incidents were reported more frequently across the capital. The Sadar Zone registered the highest number with 99 cases. The Soan Zone reported 89 cases, while the Rural Zone recorded 76 cases. The City Zone registered 44 cases, and the Industrial Area Zone reported 29 cases.

Police records also revealed that several sexual assault cases involved minors. Authorities registered these cases under different sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Sections 375-A, 376, and 376-C. These laws relate to serious sexual offences and provide legal provisions for prosecution.

The crime statistics also included disturbing kidnapping cases that ended in tragedy. In one incident, a man was allegedly abducted from outside his residence in Islamabad. His body was later discovered in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In another case, a victim was reportedly kidnapped from Islamabad and later found murdered in the province. These incidents have highlighted the risks associated with kidnapping crimes and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies.

Despite repeated media inquiries, police officials did not publicly explain the reasons behind the high number of reported cases. No detailed statement was issued regarding factors contributing to the rise in serious crimes.
