The Ring Road Police have launched a strict enforcement drive against traffic violations and unsafe pedestrian crossings. The operation was carried out over the past 24 hours. Officials confirmed multiple arrests and fines during the action.
According to police reports, several individuals were arrested for dangerously crossing the Ring Road. Seven people were taken into custody and shifted to lock-up. Four additional individuals were also arrested. Cases have been registered for further legal proceedings.
Authorities said 290 people were fined for crossing the Ring Road outside designated pedestrian bridges. Police emphasized that ignoring pedestrian facilities is increasing safety risks. The fines aim to discourage unsafe road behavior.
In another action, traffic police fined 13 motorcyclists for violating traffic rules. Each motorcyclist was fined Rs5,000. Officials said these violations were recorded during routine monitoring on the Ring Road.
Police also impounded two vehicles, including a coaster and a car. The action was taken due to one-way violations. Legal cases have been registered against the drivers involved.
Ring Road Police Commandant Safiullah Gondal stated that authorities are reviewing stricter measures. He said the Ring Road may be declared a pedestrian crossing-free zone in the future. The proposal aims to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow.
He added that public safety remains the top priority. Strict enforcement of traffic laws will continue across the Ring Road. He also warned that further violations will face stronger legal action.
Officials believe that repeated violations are creating serious risks for commuters. They said the enforcement drive is part of broader efforts to improve road discipline. Awareness campaigns may also be introduced alongside penalties.
