Court Issues Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants for KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi

An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has maintained non-bailable arrest warrants against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in connection with a protest case linked to the death of a police officer during demonstrations held on October 4, 2025.

The case was heard on Monday by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra. During the proceedings, the court upheld the previously issued arrest warrants against Sohail Afridi and continued legal action in the matter.

The court also confirmed its earlier decision to declare several political figures as proclaimed offenders. These include former opposition leader Omar Ayub, Aamir Mughal, Hafeez-ur-Rehman, and other individuals named in the case.

According to court proceedings, the case relates to a protest held in Islamabad on October 4 last year. During the incident, a police officer lost his life while performing official duties. Following the incident, authorities registered a case at Noon Police Station and launched legal proceedings against those accused.

During Monday’s hearing, PTI leader Azam Swati appeared before the court. His appearance allowed the trial proceedings concerning him to move forward. The court also recorded statements from prosecution witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation and trial process.

The case has attracted significant political attention because it involves senior political figures and allegations connected to a high-profile protest. Legal proceedings are continuing as the court examines evidence and witness testimonies.

Officials said the prosecution presented its arguments and witness statements during the hearing. The court reviewed the developments before deciding to maintain the non-bailable warrants already issued against Sohail Afridi.

The anti-terrorism court is expected to continue hearing the case in the coming weeks. Further proceedings will focus on witness accounts, documentary evidence, and the role of the accused individuals in the protest incident.

Legal experts note that the issuance of non-bailable warrants is a serious step in criminal proceedings. However, the final outcome of the case will depend on the evidence presented before the court.
