HEC Launches Revised Computing Curriculum to Strengthen Future Skills in Pakistan

HEC Launches a revised computing curriculum aimed at improving technology education and preparing students for future job markets. The announcement was made by Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar during an event held at the National Incubation Centre in Islamabad.

The event was organized by the British Council under the โ€œPartnership for Future Skills and Employmentโ€ program. It was part of the European Union TVET Sector Support Program.

The HEC Launches initiative marks an important step in updating Pakistanโ€™s computing education system. The revised curriculum was developed after detailed consultations with academic institutions, industry experts, and government bodies.

The HEC delegation at the event included Dr. Muhammad Ali Nasir, Waheed Ahmed Mangi, and Hidayatullah Kasi.

During the briefing, Dr. Muhammad Ali Nasir shared the details of the updated curriculum. He explained that the new framework aligns with HECโ€™s Undergraduate Education Policy 2023.

The HEC Launches revised curriculum introduces a strong focus on competency-based learning. It also aims to match academic training with industry needs.

One major highlight is the inclusion of 14 specialization pathways in the Computer Science program. These pathways cover modern fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Robotics, Internet of Things, and Quantum Computing.

The updated curriculum also includes industry-recognized certifications. Students will now complete mandatory internships and industry-supervised capstone projects as part of their degree.

Officials said these changes will improve graduate employability and make Pakistani students more competitive globally.

The revised curriculum was prepared with input from the Ministry of Information Technology, Pakistan Software Export Board, P@SHA, and the National Computing Education Accreditation Council.
