The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started action to recover its residential flats in Sector G-6 of Islamabad. The CDA has issued notices to illegal occupants, asking them to vacate the properties within seven days.
According to official notices, the CDA said the action follows the orders of the Islamabad High Court and the Supreme Court. The authority stated that the current occupants have no legal right to continue living in the flats located in Aabpara.
The CDA warned that if the flats are not vacated within the given time, strict action will be taken. Officials said the properties will be cleared without any further notice.
These flats were built by the CDA in 2003 as part of a federal redevelopment project. The project was mainly designed to provide housing for government employees. However, the purpose of the flats changed over time due to national emergencies.
After the 2005 earthquake, several displaced families were temporarily shifted to these flats. Later, during the 2007 Lal Masjid operation, some police officials were also provided accommodation there.
Sources said there are around 200 flats in the G-6 sector. Many of these units are still occupied by police officers. Others are reportedly being used by CDA employees, workers from federal departments, and private individuals.
A joint survey was recently carried out by the CDA and the Estate Office. The survey found that a large number of these flats are under unauthorized use. This finding led to the latest notices being issued.
CDA spokesperson Shahid Kiani said the authority will handle the matter under existing laws and regulations. He added that the process will be completed in a lawful manner.
