Punjab Introduces One-Day Nike Rule For Helmet Violations

Punjab Introduces One-Day Nike Rule For Helmet Violations

Punjab authorities have launched a strict campaign against traffic violations by introducing tougher penalties for motorcyclists who ride without helmets. Under the new policy, the one-day nike penalty means motorcycles may be impounded for one day if riders are caught without wearing a helmet.

Officials said wearing a helmet is now mandatory across the province. The measure aims to improve road safety and reduce the number of serious injuries caused by motorcycle accidents.

The new one-day nike enforcement is part of a broader effort to ensure that all riders follow traffic laws. Authorities said violators will not only receive fines but may also have their motorcycles temporarily seized.

Traffic officials stressed that helmet use can significantly reduce the risk of fatal head injuries. They urged citizens to follow the rules for their own safety and the safety of others.

According to officials, the enforcement campaign has already begun across Punjab. Traffic police have been instructed to take strict action against anyone found violating helmet regulations.

Authorities said they are working to achieve full compliance with traffic safety rules. They believe consistent enforcement will encourage more riders to wear helmets regularly.

The one-day nike policy comes alongside action against other traffic violations. Officials revealed that more than 20,000 motorcycles were impounded last month for breaking lane discipline rules.

Traffic authorities said lane discipline remains an important part of improving road safety. Riders and drivers are being reminded to stay within their designated lanes and obey road signs.

Officials explained that the new measures are designed to reduce accidents and improve overall traffic management. They believe stricter enforcement will encourage responsible driving habits.

In addition to helmet enforcement, Punjab has also introduced a modern digital challan system. The new system is intended to make traffic law enforcement more transparent and efficient.

According to DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir, traffic officers will now issue challans using a mobile application. Each challan will include photo and video evidence collected at the scene.

Officials said motorists will receive SMS notifications from 8070 after a traffic violation is recorded. The message will include a link allowing citizens to view the evidence related to their challan.

The digital system is expected to improve accountability by giving motorists direct access to the evidence supporting each fine. Authorities believe this will strengthen public confidence in traffic policing.

Officials encouraged all road users to follow traffic laws, wear helmets, and maintain proper lane discipline. They said these simple precautions can help prevent accidents and save lives.

The government hopes the one-day nike policy, combined with digital enforcement tools, will create safer roads across Punjab. Authorities have advised riders to comply with the new regulations to avoid fines, motorcycle impoundment, and other legal action.
