Farukh Khokhar Given Life Imprisonment in Majid Satti Murder Case

An additional district and sessions court has sentenced Farukh Khokhar to life imprisonment in the Majid Satti murder case. The verdict was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Safi after hearing the case related to the killing of Majid Satti.

Following the court’s decision, Farukh Khokhar was taken into custody from the courtroom. He was later shifted to Adiala Jail under strict security arrangements to begin serving his sentence.

The court also awarded life imprisonment to two other accused, Amir Hamza and Haider Nawaz. In addition to the prison terms, the court imposed a fine of Rs1 million on each of the three convicts. After the verdict, all three were transferred to Adiala Jail.

The case is linked to the murder of Majid Satti, who was allegedly killed on August 23, 2022. A criminal case was registered at Sadiqabad Police Station shortly after the incident, and investigations led to charges against the accused.

According to the prosecution, the incident was connected to a dispute over a plot of land. Court records stated that Majid Satti was allegedly targeted after opposing an attempt to take over the property. The case remained under trial for several years before the court delivered its final judgment.

After the verdict, Farukh Khokhar rejected the court’s decision. He maintained that he was not present at the scene of the incident and denied involvement in the crime. He also announced that his legal team would challenge the judgment in a higher court.

The case attracted public attention due to the political backgrounds of those involved. Majid Satti was associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Meanwhile, Farukh Khokhar had previously been affiliated with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) before later joining Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI).

Legal experts note that a life imprisonment verdict can be challenged through the appeals process. The defence has the right to seek a review of the judgment before a higher court under Pakistan’s legal system.

The latest ruling marks a significant development in a case that has remained under judicial proceedings since 2022. With the court delivering its decision, attention is now expected to shift toward the appeals process announced by the defence.

The judgment also highlights the legal consequences of violent disputes linked to property conflicts. Authorities have reiterated that such cases will continue to be pursued through the courts in accordance with the law.
