Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it carried out missile and drone attacks targeting military facilities linked to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. The group said several strategic installations were damaged or destroyed during the operation.
According to the IRGC, the strikes targeted important military systems located in Bahrain. It claimed the operation damaged the fleet’s air surveillance radar along with Patriot missile defense radar equipment and a C-RAM early warning radar system.
The IRGC also stated that fuel storage facilities and a command center used for unmanned naval vessels were destroyed in the attacks. It added that its retaliatory military campaign remains ongoing.
At the time of the announcement, neither the United States nor Bahraini authorities had publicly confirmed or responded to the IRGC’s claims. Independent verification of the reported damage was also not immediately available.
The announcement came as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East following recent military exchanges between the United States and Iran. The latest developments have increased concerns about regional security and the safety of international shipping routes.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of its latest military operation against Iran. According to an official statement, the mission lasted approximately five hours.
CENTCOM said US forces carried out precision strikes on military targets across several Iranian locations. These included Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.
The US military stated that the operation targeted Iranian coastal defense systems, missile launch sites, drone infrastructure, and maritime capabilities. According to CENTCOM, the strikes were intended to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the region.
The command also confirmed that precision-guided munitions were used during the operation. Officials said the mission was part of ongoing efforts to maintain security in key maritime areas.
According to the US military, more than 50,000 American service members remain deployed across the Middle East. CENTCOM said its forces continue to remain prepared for any further developments.
The latest military exchanges follow an announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding the Strait of Hormuz. He said the United States would assume responsibility for securing the strategic waterway and act as its “guardian.”
Trump also stated that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open for international shipping with or without Iran. He further announced plans for what he described as the reinstatement of an “Iranian blockade.”
Under the proposal, Iranian vessels and customers would be prevented from using the waterway, while ships from other countries would continue to have unrestricted access.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes. A significant share of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies passes through the narrow waterway each day.
As the situation continues to evolve, both military operations and political statements are drawing international attention. The IRGC maintains that key facilities were destroyed, while official confirmation from the United States and Bahrain remains pending. The ongoing conflict has increased uncertainty across the region as diplomatic and military developments continue.
