Pakistan Announces E-Passport Fees for UAE Residents

Pakistan Announces E-Passport Fees for UAE Residents

The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi has announced the official fee structure for the new E-Passport system for Pakistani nationals living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The new passport service will officially begin on July 20, 2026.

According to the embassy, all passport applications submitted through the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai from July 20 onward will be processed only as E-Passport applications.

The new system is part of Pakistan’s efforts to modernize passport services for overseas Pakistanis. Applicants will no longer receive Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) through these missions once the rollout begins.

For a five-year E-Passport, the fee for a 36-page passport is AED 145 under the normal processing category. Applicants choosing urgent processing will pay AED 235.

A five-year 72-page passport will cost AED 260 for normal processing and AED 425 for urgent service.

The embassy has also announced charges for 10-year passports.

A 10-year 36-page passport will cost AED 215 under the normal category. The urgent processing fee for the same passport is AED 355.

Applicants requesting a 72-page passport with 10-year validity will pay AED 390 for normal processing. The urgent processing fee has been set at AED 635.

The embassy also introduced revised fees for replacement passports issued after the first or second loss of a passport.

Officials said the replacement charges will depend on several factors. These include the passport’s validity period, the number of pages, and whether the applicant chooses normal or urgent processing.

The embassy advised applicants to carefully review the updated fee schedule before submitting their applications.

Officials also clarified that existing Machine Readable Passports will remain valid until their expiry date.

Pakistani nationals currently holding valid MRPs do not need to replace them immediately. The embassy advised passport holders to renew their passports only when the remaining validity falls below six months.

This guidance aims to prevent unnecessary passport renewals and reduce pressure on passport offices.

The introduction of the E-Passport system is expected to improve passport security and streamline processing for overseas Pakistanis. The electronic passport includes enhanced security features designed to meet international travel standards.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai will continue assisting applicants under the new system after its launch.

Pakistani nationals living in the UAE are encouraged to check the latest passport requirements before applying. They should also ensure they select the correct passport validity period, page count, and processing category based on their travel needs.
