Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi has announced the restoration of two suspended train services to improve travel facilities for passengers. The decision is part of broader efforts to expand railway operations and strengthen public transport across Pakistan.
According to the minister, the Babu Passenger Train and Sandal Express will resume operations within the next two weeks. Both services had remained suspended since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Lahore-to-Lala Musa Babu Passenger Train will restart operations on August 20. Meanwhile, the Sandal Express, which runs from Multan to Sargodha through Jhang, will resume service on August 21.
The minister said the restoration of these routes will make travel easier for thousands of passengers. It will also support the operational goals of Railways by bringing back important regional train services.
Hanif Abbasi explained that both trains were suspended during the coronavirus pandemic when travel demand declined. The decision to restart the services reflects the government’s focus on improving transportation and increasing access to affordable travel.

The upgraded train offers air-conditioned coaches and improved seating arrangements. It also provides a family-friendly environment designed to attract tourists and leisure travelers.

The Safari Train also allows visitors to enjoy longer stays at scenic destinations. Dining facilities have been introduced at popular locations, including Attock Khurd, to improve the overall travel experience.
