The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced a revised schedule for MDCAT 2026. The medical entrance examination, which was previously set for August 16, will now take place on September 20, 2026.
According to PMDC, the decision was made following the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The updated schedule will apply to all students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.
The council confirmed that only the examination date has been changed. All other rules, eligibility requirements, admission procedures, and test arrangements will remain the same unless a new notification is issued.
The revised MDCAT 2026 schedule gives students an additional five weeks to prepare for one of the country’s most competitive entrance examinations. Many candidates are expected to use the extra time to strengthen their preparation before the test.
PMDC advised students to continue following the existing guidelines. Candidates do not need to complete any additional registration because of the revised examination date. The previously announced procedures will continue without changes.
The council said the revised schedule is intended to ensure a smooth examination process. Students should regularly check official PMDC announcements for any future updates related to the admission test.
Every year, thousands of students appear in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test to compete for seats in public and private medical institutions. The examination plays a key role in the admission process for medical and dental colleges across the country.
The revised MDCAT 2026 date is expected to provide more preparation time for candidates. Education experts often advise students to use such additional time to revise important topics and practice sample questions.
In a separate public notice, PMDC also reminded students planning to study medicine or dentistry abroad about the required admission criteria. The council said students seeking admission to foreign medical and dental institutions must obtain at least 50 percent marks in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test or qualify through an equivalent foreign admission examination.
PMDC instructed aspiring students to carefully follow all eligibility requirements before applying to overseas institutions. The council warned that failure to meet the prescribed criteria could create problems in the future registration and recognition of their medical qualifications in Pakistan.
The council emphasized that these rules are important for students who plan to return and practice in Pakistan after completing their education abroad.
