GTA 6 Day-Night Cycle May Take Over Two Hours

GTA 6 Day-Night Cycle May Take Over Two Hours

A full day in GTA 6 may take around 144 minutes in real-time. This would make the cycle three times longer than earlier Rockstar Games titles.

The estimate comes from fan calculations based on leaked gameplay footage. The clip was reportedly shared by a leaker known as Cyberleek.

The footage shows Jason during a gas station robbery. Fans examined the game’s internal clock to estimate its time progression.

According to their calculations, six seconds in real life equals one minute in GTA 6. This means 144 real-world minutes would complete a full 24-hour in-game day.

GTA 6 Could Have a Longer Day Cycle

Previous Rockstar Games titles used a much faster time system. Both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 have full in-game days lasting about 48 minutes.

The leaked footage suggests GTA 6 could use a 144-minute cycle. That would make its day-night system three times longer than GTA 5.

The longer cycle could bring several changes to gameplay. Players may experience more gradual changes in lighting and weather.

Weather systems could also feel more natural across the game’s open world. Fog, rain, and thunderstorms could develop and change over longer periods.

A slower clock could also affect missions and heists. Players might have more time to prepare for activities involving specific times of day.

Night-based missions could benefit from the longer progression. Developers may also avoid sudden time changes during certain missions.

Leaked Footage Does Not Confirm the Final Version

The reported timing comes from pre-release footage. Therefore, it does not confirm how the final game will work.

Rockstar Games could still change the internal clock before launch. The leaked version may also have altered settings that affect time progression.

The footage is part of several leaked GTA 6 clips that have circulated online. Reports indicate that seven separate clips have emerged.

The leaks have also created problems for Take-Two Interactive. The company owns Rockstar Games and has taken legal steps to identify the source.

Take-Two has reportedly issued legal subpoenas involving platforms such as Microsoft and Discord. The company is seeking information connected to the person behind the leaks.

For now, the 144-minute day remains an estimate based on leaked material. Official details about the final time system are still awaited.

If Rockstar keeps this system, GTA 6 could offer a slower and more immersive passage of time.
