Electricity consumers across Pakistan are set to face higher bills following two new tariff adjustments.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has approved increases under monthly and quarterly adjustment mechanisms.
Together, the two adjustments will increase electricity prices by Rs. 2.58 per unit.
NEPRA Approves Rs. 2.06 Per Unit Increase
NEPRA has approved a Rs. 2.06 per unit increase under the monthly fuel price adjustment.
The adjustment relates to electricity consumed during July 2026.
The increase will apply to electricity consumers across the country. K-Electric customers will also come under the adjustment. The Rs. 2.06 per unit increase will be reflected in electricity bills issued during September 2026.
According to the available details, the monthly adjustment will place an additional Rs. 33 billion burden on consumers. This means households and businesses could see higher electricity costs during the billing period.
The actual impact on each bill will depend on the number of electricity units covered by the adjustment.
Another 52 Paisa Per Unit Increase Approved
In addition to the monthly adjustment, NEPRA has approved another tariff increase.
The regulator approved a 52 paisa per unit increase under the quarterly tariff adjustment. This adjustment covers the April-to-June 2026 quarter.
The regulatory authority has sent its decision to the government for implementation.
Once implemented, the quarterly increase will remain applicable from September through November 2026. K-Electric consumers will also be covered by this quarterly adjustment.
The measure is expected to add Rs. 12.67 billion to consumers’ overall electricity costs.
Combined Electricity Increase Reaches Rs. 2.58 Per Unit
The two tariff adjustments together amount to an increase of Rs. 2.58 per unit.
This includes the Rs. 2.06 monthly fuel adjustment and the 52 paisa quarterly adjustment. Both adjustments will therefore affect electricity costs during the applicable billing periods.
However, the two increases relate to separate tariff adjustment mechanisms. The monthly increase relates specifically to the July 2026 fuel price adjustment.
Meanwhile, the quarterly increase covers the April-June 2026 period.
The latest decisions come as electricity costs remain an important concern for households and businesses across Pakistan. Consumers are advised to carefully review their upcoming electricity bills for the applicable adjustments.
