Authorities have intensified security measures ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march. The planned protest is scheduled for September 27.

In Jhelum, officials have prepared measures to restrict movement during the protest. The administration has completed arrangements to close three bridges.

Raids on the homes of PTI supporters have also continued in the district. According to a report, around 80 workers have been arrested.

The report further said 60 workers were detained in the district jail. Their detention was carried out under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.

Authorities have also placed a large number of containers on Jhelum’s Naya Pul bridge. Soil-filled bags are reportedly being brought to the location.

The bags are expected to be placed inside the containers. This would make the barriers heavier and harder to move.

Workers handling the containers said they had remained at the location for several days. They also raised concerns about possible financial losses.

According to the workers, goods worth millions of rupees could be damaged. They also reported difficulties with accommodation and food during their stay.

Preparations have also been reported around other key routes. Officials are taking steps to restrict access toward areas connected with the planned protest.

Meanwhile, PTI leadership has discussed the possibility of delaying the long march. A majority of participants reportedly supported a postponement proposal.

According to reports, some leaders suggested moving the protest to a date between October 5 and 10. The proposal was discussed during a leadership meeting in Peshawar.

However, reports about the timing remain subject to further decisions by the party leadership. PTI has also publicly discussed proceeding with the September 27 protest.

The developments come amid increased security preparations across Punjab. Authorities are preparing for possible movement toward Islamabad.

The Rawalpindi Division has also increased security arrangements ahead of the protest. More than 43,000 personnel are reportedly planned for deployment across several districts.

The government has said formal talks with PTI cannot proceed unless the planned march is postponed. Adviser Rana Sanaullah made the statement on September 24.

The situation remains fluid as the September 27 date approaches. Further decisions by PTI leadership could affect the planned long march.
