The Education Department in Sindh has taken proactive steps to combat the rising cases of physical violence against students in schools. As a result, a comprehensive ban on corporal punishment has been enforced in all private schools.
Ahmed Khan, the Additional Director of the Education Department, is leading this effort. He has expressed concern about the increasing instances of corporal punishment and emphasized the department’s commitment to creating a safe and positive learning environment.
The ban on corporal punishment is now an integral part of school registration certificates, highlighting the department’s dedication to students’ safety and well-being.

Rafia Javed, the Education Department’s official spokesperson, supports this action. She strongly stated that any school found violating this ban will face legal consequences.
The department’s vigilance is aimed at ensuring strict compliance with this rule and holding schools accountable for their actions. To address parental concerns, the spokesperson encouraged parents to report any incidents of physical punishment promptly.
Empowered by legislation from 2005, the Education Department has the authority to potentially revoke the registration of schools that repeatedly violate this ban, underscoring the seriousness of addressing this issue.
