The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Karachi has arrested two suspects accused of impersonating Pakistan Army officers. The suspects allegedly deceived citizens and collected money by promising to arrange official work.
The arrests were made during an operation in Karachi’s Korangi Industrial Area. Authorities identified the suspects as Muzammil, son of Badruddin Qureshi, and Hamza, son of Muhammad Aslam.
According to officials, the suspects allegedly posed as senior military and government officials. They reportedly claimed to have strong connections within the armed forces and various government departments.
Investigators said the suspects used the name and reputation of the Pakistan Army to gain public trust. They allegedly collected substantial amounts of money by offering assistance with transfers, appointments, and other official matters.
The case highlights concerns about people using false identities to exploit citizens seeking help with government procedures. Authorities have registered a case against both suspects under relevant legal provisions.
Two Arrested During NCCIA Operation in Karachi
The NCCIA Karachi Zone carried out the operation in the Korangi Industrial Area. Both suspects were taken into custody during the action.
Officials alleged that the accused presented themselves as authorised military officers. They reportedly made false promises about facilitating official and departmental processes in exchange for money.
According to the information provided by authorities, the suspects claimed they could use their connections to help citizens. These claims allegedly encouraged people to trust them and pay for assistance.
The investigation will focus on the allegations of impersonation, fraud, and the collection of money through false assurances.
Authorities have not provided further details about the number of affected citizens or the total amount allegedly collected. The allegations against the suspects will be examined through the legal process.
Case Registered Under PPC and PECA
An FIR numbered 114/2026 has been registered against the two suspects. According to authorities, the case includes Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The suspects have also been booked under Sections 13, 14, and 16 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), as amended in 2025.

The arrests are part of the NCCIA’s action against alleged cybercrime and related fraudulent activities. Officials are investigating the case to establish the facts surrounding the suspects’ alleged conduct.
Citizens Warned Against False Claims of Official Influence
The case serves as a reminder for citizens to remain cautious when dealing with individuals claiming special access to government departments or military officials.
People should verify official identities and avoid paying anyone who promises guaranteed appointments, transfers, or other government services through personal connections.
Citizens who encounter suspected impersonation or fraud can report the matter to the relevant authorities.
The arrest of the two suspects marks a step in the ongoing investigation. However, the allegations remain subject to legal proceedings, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
