TikToker Ansar Mahmood, popularly known as Mr Patlu, has received interim bail in the deadly stampede case linked to his wedding celebrations. A local court in Daska granted him relief until November 10. The development comes after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had earlier granted him protective bail.

Mr Patlu appeared before the court in a wheelchair while seeking legal relief. He reportedly claimed that a serious spinal injury had left him unable to walk or stand without assistance. Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Irfan Naseem Tarar heard his bail application and approved interim bail.

The latest decision follows an earlier order from the Islamabad High Court. Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar had granted Mr Patlu protective bail in the same case. The order allowed him temporary protection from arrest until November 10. It also gave him time to approach the relevant court for legal relief.

The high court’s written judgment noted that the petitioner had appeared voluntarily. It stated that he wanted to exercise his legal right before the appropriate judicial forum. However, the protective bail was set to expire after judicial working hours on November 10. The Daska court’s interim bail is a separate legal development.

The case relates to a large public gathering organised during Mr Patlu’s wedding celebrations in Sialkot district. The event reportedly included entertainment, public giveaways and financial assistance for deserving families. However, a large crowd gathered at the venue, and the situation turned chaotic.

A deadly stampede resulted in several casualties and injuries. The incident triggered widespread public concern and police action. Authorities also faced questions about crowd management and security arrangements. Investigators are examining the alleged negligence and responsibilities of those involved.

Mr Patlu has disputed key allegations mentioned in the police complaint. In his first detailed public response, he claimed he was receiving medical treatment when the incident occurred. He also rejected the claim that he was present at the stadium during the stampede.

According to the TikToker, he had visited the same ground one day earlier to play cricket. He claimed that he suffered a serious back injury during that activity. He maintained that the injury required medical attention and affected his ability to move.

Mr Patlu has urged investigators to examine hospital records and CCTV footage. He believes these records could help establish his whereabouts during the incident. He also claimed that friends who travelled from abroad could support his account.
