Apple has officially introduced its iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max during a major launch event. While the Pro models are gaining attention for their innovative features, the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have notable updates as well.
The most significant change is the inclusion of a USB-C port, a move attributed to an EU mandate. Apple has also incorporated the Dynamic Island feature from last year’s Pro models into the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
Differentiating the two models primarily by screen size (6.1″ for the iPhone 15 and 6.7″ for the iPhone 15 Plus) and battery capacity (yet to be disclosed), Apple boasts that the new screens offer up to 2000 nits of peak brightness outdoors, double the previous capability. The screens also feature a matte finish and a contoured edge on the aluminum frame.

Under the hood, both devices are powered by the A16 Bionic chipset, maintaining a clear distinction between the Pro and non-Pro models. While the RAM capacity remains undisclosed, storage options range from 128 GB to 512 GB.
The primary camera sports a 48MP sensor, although it’s smaller than the one featured in the iPhone 15 Pro models and even smaller than last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models. Despite this, Apple claims it can capture “optical-quality” 2x telephoto shots, even without a dedicated telephoto lens, which remains exclusive to the Pro lineup. Interestingly, the default resolution is set at 24MP.
In terms of new features, emergency SOS via satellite is available in 14 countries and will soon be introduced in Spain and Switzerland. Additionally, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus now offer Roadside Assistance via satellite, initially available in the US through AAA.
The iPhone 15 starts at $799, while the iPhone 15 Plus begins at $899, both models coming with 128 GB of storage. Pre-orders will commence on September 15, with the devices set for release on September 22. These models will be offered in various vibrant colors, including pink, yellow, green, blue, and black.
