Cypher Controversy: US State Department officials under threat by Pakistani diaspora

Imran Khan’s fate in a cypher case hangs in the balance, with speculations suggesting that he may face sentencing by December. Allegations circulate that Pakistan’s establishment has turned against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party following the events of May 9th. These claims have been discussed by Azaz Syed’s on Amna Amir’s YouTube channel.

On May 10th, Imran Khan appeared in court, and during that time, “I (Azaz Syed) had the opportunity to question him about his stance on the May 9th incidents. Khan responded by characterizing it as a reaction from the people”. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has extensively probed the cypher case, investigating whether Khan was involved in cyber espionage or the misuse of such activities.

Azaz Syed further elaborated that some individuals within the U.S. State Department have received threats from Pakistanis. These threats have strained the relationship between Pakistan and the United States. It is important to note that these insights have come directly from the State Department.

The cypher case features 28 witnesses, but its outcome appears to hinge on three key individuals. Asad Majeed, who served as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States at the time, Sohail Mehmood, the former foreign secretary, and Azam Khan, who was the principal secretary during the relevant period, are crucial witnesses. It’s worth recalling that an audio recording leaked, suggesting discussions about turning the cypher case into a political issue. This recording has been verified, with Asad Umar and Azam Khan being among the individuals who corroborated its authenticity.

The outcome of this case remains uncertain, and Imran Khan’s future may be at stake. The link to the complete program discussing these details is provided below for further reference.
