A family of Sikh yatris fell victim to robbers masquerading in police uniforms in Lahore’s Gulberg neighborhood. The incident occurred while they were out shopping, leaving them stripped of their valuables.
Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has issued a stern 48-hour ultimatum to the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore to capture the perpetrators responsible for this brazen act. Naqvi emphasized the urgency of identifying the culprits, assessing the level of negligence, and holding accountable any erring officers involved, stressing the utilization of CCTV cameras for the same.
Expressing dismay, Naqvi highlighted the gross negligence exhibited in robbing a Sikh family within the precincts of Gulberg. He underlined the significance of safeguarding Sikh visitors, citing it as a fundamental duty.

The incident comes amidst the commemoration of the 554th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, celebrated by Sikh yatris from various countries, including Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, and India, at Nankana Sahib.
Notably, in a separate incident, law enforcement officers confronted and neutralized six robbers in Lahore’s Iqbal Town.
Recently, Sikh pilgrims participated in various religious ceremonies such as Akhand Path, Shabad Kirtan, Ashnan, and others at Gurdwara Janam Asthan. Additionally, this week witnessed the performance of the Matha Teki ritual at Gurdwara Sacha Sauda by the Sikh yatris.
