Iran’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir convened on Monday at the Pakistani Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi, Punjab. The meeting, attended by a delegation of Pakistani military officials and a high-ranking Iranian delegation, included Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, and Colonel Mostafa Qanbarpour, the military attaché of Iran in Pakistan.
Discussions between Amir-Abdullahian and the Pakistani army commander centered around the latest developments in bilateral relations, security cooperation, and the management of shared borders. Gen Asim Munir stressed the importance of continuous engagement and the use of existing communication channels to address security concerns.

Both parties reached an agreement to activate the deployment of military liaison officers in each other’s countries promptly, aiming to enhance coordination and response efficiency against common threats.
The commitment to close engagement and the prevention of external interference in the strong bond between Iran and Pakistan was reiterated by both sides. Emphasizing their fraternal neighbor status, they recognized the interconnected destiny of both nations. The mutual dedication to peace, stability, and prosperity in the border region was highlighted as essential for the well-being of people on both sides.
