In a significant turn of events, Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed faced defeat on both National Assembly constituencies in Rawalpindi to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidates. This defeat prompted Rashid’s nephew, Rashid Shafeeq, to issue a concession statement acknowledging the losses in NA-56 and NA-57, Rawalpindi.

In the concession statement, Shafeeq expressed Sheikh Rashid’s acceptance of the defeat and extended congratulations to the winners, Seembia Tahir and Shehryar Riaz. Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Shafeeq highlighted a sense of contentment that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also faced defeat in these constituencies.
The concession statement reflects the democratic spirit of gracefully accepting election outcomes, even in the face of personal setbacks.
