Bismah Maroof, arguably the most prolific batter in the history of Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, has advocated for the establishment of a women’s league akin to the Pakistan Super League (PSL). She emphasizes the importance of providing opportunities for female cricketers to gain exposure and compete alongside foreign players domestically.
Expressing her disappointment over the absence of exhibition matches during PSL 9, Bismah underscored the significance of such matches in fostering the growth of women’s cricket. She recalls the exhibition matches held last year, where foreign players participated, and highlights the missed opportunity for Pakistani female cricketers this season.
Bismah emphasizes the invaluable experience gained by female cricketers from sharing the dressing room with international players in a dedicated women’s league.

Last year, Pakistan witnessed three exhibition matches between the Amazons and the Super Women’s teams in Rawalpindi, featuring foreign players alongside local talent. Drawing parallels with the Indian Premier League (IPL) Women’s League, Bismah suggests similar initiatives to elevate Pakistan’s women’s cricket on the global stage.
Looking ahead, Bismah identifies the upcoming series against West Indies as pivotal for the Pakistan women’s team, aiming to build on the momentum gained from the historic series victory against New Zealand. Notably, Pakistan secured a memorable win against New Zealand in both T20Is and ODIs during their away series, signaling significant progress for the team.
