US Vice-President Kamala Harris launched her White House campaign with a strong critique of Donald Trump, framing the November election as a choice between a former prosecutor and a convicted felon. Speaking to about 3,000 people in Wisconsin, she compared Trump to the fraudsters she previously prosecuted. Trump responded by attacking her record and calling her “Lyin’ Kamala Harris” on social media.
Harris recently secured the majority of Democratic delegates, positioning herself as the likely nominee after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal and endorsement. The Harris campaign raised over $100 million in just 36 hours post-Biden’s exit. A new poll shows her slightly ahead of Trump, with a 44% to 42% lead.

At her rally in Milwaukee, Harris highlighted her experience as California’s attorney general and promised to put her record against Trump’s. The audience showed strong support, chanting “Kamala! Kamala!” and “lock him up” when Trump’s name was mentioned.
Trump criticized Harris on social media, labeling her as the most unpopular vice-president and highlighting her left-wing stance. Harris focused on liberal priorities in her speech, including gun control, abortion access, and healthcare. She challenged voters to choose between a nation of freedom and rule of law versus one of chaos and fear.
Trump’s campaign is attacking Harris on border issues and the Biden administration’s record. He expressed willingness to debate Harris in September and criticized her for being a radical leftist. Most Democratic leaders and some celebrities have endorsed Harris, bolstering her campaign. Meanwhile, Biden will explain his withdrawal in an upcoming speech, and a Republican lawmaker has introduced articles of impeachment against Harris, though their advancement is unlikely.
