Taylor Swift’s three scheduled concerts in Vienna this week were cancelled after the Austrian government confirmed a planned attack on the stadium. The announcement came late on Wednesday, with Chancellor Karl Nehammer stating that “a tragedy was prevented.”
Nehammer praised the collaborative efforts of Austrian police and the newly established Directorate for Security and Intelligence (DSN), which helped detect and thwart the threat early. The DSN worked with foreign agencies to address the situation.

In response to the confirmed threat, Barracuda.music announced the cancellation of the concerts at Ernst Happel Stadium for public safety. All ticket holders will receive automatic refunds.
On Wednesday, Austrian police arrested two suspects linked to the plot. Franz Ruf, Director General for Public Security, reported that one of the suspects, a 19-year-old Austrian with ties to the Islamic State, had shown particular interest in the Taylor Swift concerts. Another suspect was also apprehended in Vienna. Authorities are still searching for three additional suspects.
Initially, police had planned to increase security measures, including enhanced entry checks and the deployment of special units, but decided to cancel the events after further investigation.
The Vienna concerts were part of Swift’s Eras Tour, which began in March 2023 and will conclude in December 2024. The tour has been a major success across Europe, with Swift set to perform next in London, starting August 15. Swift has not yet addressed the cancellations on her social media.
