The Pakistan Student Federation (PSF) has set a deadline of August 30 for the government to release former Prime Minister Imran Khan, inspired by a recent successful student-led protest in Bangladesh. The PSF has warned of a nationwide protest if their demand is not met, potentially escalating political tensions in Pakistan.
In response, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to hold a large rally in Islamabad by the end of August to push for Khan’s release. This follows a significant rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marking one year since Khan’s imprisonment. PTI leaders, including Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, emphasized Khan’s importance as the leader of Pakistan’s largest party and pledged continued support for his release.

Gandapur criticized the current government’s handling of law and order and vowed to combat terrorism if PTI comes to power. He highlighted Khan’s dedication to securing the nation’s future and promised to fight for freedom until it is achieved. Imran Khan, arrested on August 5 of the previous year, is currently held in Adiala Jail facing multiple charges and convictions.
