Sajid Khan Breaks Mushtaq Ahmed's 24-Year Test Record

Sajid Khan made history during the second Test match against England at Multan Cricket Stadium by taking seven wickets, breaking a 24-year-old record held by legendary spinner Mushtaq Ahmed. In a remarkable display of skill, Sajid claimed five wickets in the first innings, including a stunning spell where he dismissed three English batsmen in just ten balls on the second day.

This achievement marks him as the first Pakistani spinner to reach such a milestone on home soil since Mushtaq’s record in 2000. Pakistan, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, posted a solid total of 366 runs, with debutant Kamran Ghulam shining by scoring 118 runs and Saim Ayub adding 77 runs.

England struggled in response, being bowled out for 291 runs in their first innings early on the third day. Sajid Khan’s impressive seven-wicket haul, alongside fellow spinner Noman Ali’s three wickets, underscored the effectiveness of Pakistan’s spin attack.

Ben Duckett stood out for England with a score of 114 runs, but it wasn’t enough to surpass Pakistan’s total. Now leading by 75 runs, Pakistan aims for a strong second innings total to level the series. Sajid’s performance not only enhances his personal achievements but also signifies a resurgence of spin bowling in Pakistan, reminiscent of the great performances by previous spinners.
