Lahore is grappling with a severe air pollution crisis, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching a staggering 1,165, a record high.

The pollution is largely attributed to contaminated winds from Delhi, India, impacting Lahore and neighboring regions.

Officials expect some relief as winds shift direction later in the day, but health experts advise people to stay indoors and wear masks when necessary, especially vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb warned of potential lockdowns if air quality continues to worsen and urged businesses and citizens to adopt emergency measures to help mitigate the crisis.
