An explosion shook Quetta railway station on Saturday morning, leaving at least 23 people dead and injuring 57 others.
The blast occurred as passengers prepared for departures, with officials warning that the death toll could rise. Rescue and security teams promptly arrived at the scene, transferring the injured and deceased to Quetta’s Civil Hospital. Some victims were also treated at the trauma center. An emergency was declared at the hospital, with doctors and paramedics summoned immediately.

According to railway officials, the explosion took place near the ticket booth at a time when two trains were scheduled to depart, resulting in a crowded platform.
SSP (Operations) Muhammad Baloch informed the media that the Jafar Express was preparing to leave for Peshawar when the incident occurred. He added that the Crime Scene Unit was on-site to determine the nature of the blast, which is suspected to be a suicide attack.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that police and security teams had reached the scene and a detailed report had been requested.
He also stated that the extent of the damage was being assessed and emphasized that an emergency had been declared in hospitals to handle the crisis.
