An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook Islamabad, Peshawar, and several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
The tremors were strongly felt in areas including Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Malakand, Buner, and the capital, Islamabad.

Other affected regions included Mohmand, Charsadda, and Attock in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border Region, at a depth of 220 km.
Fortunately, no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received.
The tremors caused widespread panic, prompting residents to evacuate homes and offices while reciting prayers for safety.
Experts have advised the public to remain alert and follow safety guidelines, given the area’s vulnerability to seismic events.
