IHC Issues Release Order for Imran Khan After Toshakhana Case Bail Approval

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been granted bail in the Toshakhana case by the Islamabad High Court. The court ordered his release after he submitted two surety bonds worth Rs 1 million each, guaranteed by Tariq Noon and Raja Ghulam Sajjad, and stated that he should be freed unless detained in another case. The bail decision was approved by Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb.

The Toshakhana case revolves around allegations that Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), mishandled and retained gifts from the state repository. His legal team argues that he complied with all rules regarding gifts, while some analysts view the charges as politically motivated.

Despite securing bail in this case, Imran Khan is facing numerous legal challenges. Shortly after his release was ordered, he was placed under five-day physical remand by an anti-terrorism court in connection with a separate case at New Town Police Station in Rawalpindi. This case includes charges of arson, stone-throwing, resisting the police, damaging government property, and terrorism-related activities.

The remand session, presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah at Adiala Jail, will allow police investigators to question him in connection with these charges. His cell at the jail has been designated as a temporary police station for the duration of the investigation.

Imran Khan’s legal battles are ongoing, with the next court appearance scheduled for November 26, when further developments in the investigations will be reviewed.
