Bob Holt, a respected sports reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, passed away on December 4 at the age of 64.
A graduate of the University of Missouri, Holt had covered University of Arkansas Razorbacks athletics since 1981, gaining recognition for his thorough and insightful reporting. He was a member of the Football Writers Association of America and served on the board of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Holt was also a voter for the Heisman Trophy and the AP Top 25 basketball poll.

Throughout his career, Holt was named Arkansas Sportswriter of the Year four times and was inducted into the Arkansas Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame.
Wally Hall, a fellow sports columnist, announced his passing on X (formerly Twitter), calling Holt “one of the last great true journalists.” Holt died at 10:38 p.m., with the attending doctor being a former Razorback baseball player. Fans have paid tribute to Holt, remembering his significant contribution to Arkansas sports journalism.
