Fakhar, a key player for Pakistan in recent years, was dropped from the national white-ball squads during recent tours of Australia and Zimbabwe. Additionally, for the first time in eight years, he was excluded from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) central contracts. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi explained that both Fakhar’s fitness issues and his controversial social media comments played a role in the decision. Naqvi confirmed that Fakhar failed to pass the fitness test, which was the primary reason for his exclusion. He also addressed Fakhar’s public criticism of the selection committee’s decision to drop Babar Azam from the Test squad, stating that such comments were unacceptable. Naqvi emphasized that players are not permitted to publicly criticize internal selection matters and warned that protests on social media would not be tolerated.
