Turkey has expressed its willingness to offer military support to Syria’s newly formed Islamist-led government, established by rebels who ousted Bashar al-Assad, should the government request assistance.
Defence Minister Yasar Guler stated that the new leadership deserves a chance and Turkey stands ready to provide the necessary help if asked.

Guler emphasized the need to observe the actions of the new administration, referring to the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) rebel group, which has connections to Al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch and is labeled as a “terrorist” organization by many Western nations.
However, HTS has worked to soften its image, with its interim government pledging to protect the rights of all Syrians and ensure the rule of law while respecting institutional structures.
