Born Miguel Ángel López Díaz, Misterio Sr. was a key figure in the world of lucha libre, with a career spanning nearly five decades. He performed in several prestigious wrestling organizations, including Pro Wrestling Revolution, Tijuana Wrestling, and the World Wrestling Association (WWA).

In addition to his own achievements in the ring, Misterio Sr. was a renowned mentor, training his nephew Rey Mysterio, who went on to become a three-time WWE world champion. He also guided other wrestling talents such as Konnan, Psicosis, Halloween, and Damian 666, cementing his legacy as an influential figure in the wrestling world.
Though the cause of his death has not been disclosed, it follows the recent passing of Rey Mysterio Jr.’s father, Robert Gutierrez. Misterio Sr.’s niece, Aalyah Gutierrez, paid tribute to him on social media, thanking him for his influence on her father’s life and career.
