Pakistan's Internet Speed Set for Major Boost with Modern Cables Link to Africa

Pakistan is making significant progress in enhancing landline internet speeds with the installation of new cables, sources report.

The new cable system will connect Pakistan to a vast 45,000-kilometer global network, linking 46 cable landing stations across Europe, Africa, and Asia, which will greatly improve internet speed and connectivity.

This project is part of Facebook Meta’s “Africa-2” initiative, with Pakistan playing a key role. The cable is expected to be fully operational by 2025, bringing faster internet speeds and better traffic management to users.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed the successful connection of the Africa-2 cable, promising consumers ultra-fast internet speeds beginning in 2025, marking a major milestone in Pakistan’s digital evolution and global internet connectivity.
