The territorial dispute surrounding the New Islamabad International Airport, which spans Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Attock districts, has finally been resolved. This issue had caused legal complications after the airport became operational, as the boundaries of the airport crossed into three districts.
Initially, the airport’s terminal, runway, and other constructions were temporarily placed within the jurisdiction of the New Airport Police Station, Attock. However, the matter was referred to the Punjab government for a permanent solution by the district administration.

The Punjab Cabinet’s Standing Committee on Law and Order has now approved a resolution to settle the boundary issue. Following the approval, the Home Department sent out notifications to relevant authorities, including the Chief Secretary, Commissioner, and Rawalpindi RPO, as well as officials from Attock and Rawalpindi.
The approved resolution designates the airport’s runway, ASF colony, parking area, main terminal, and surrounding areas within a 3 km radius as part of the Naseerabad Police Station, Rawalpindi. This area, which includes several localities previously under the jurisdiction of Attock’s New Airport Police Station, will now officially be within Rawalpindi’s territory. The Governor of Punjab will finalize the decision by issuing a formal notification.
