Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram has refuted claims that he criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its chairman, Mohsin Naqvi. Akram took to X (formerly Twitter), calling the reports “fake news” and urging people not to believe the misinformation. He stated, “Stop lying. Enough is enough, and please don’t believe these muppets.”

The controversy emerged after reports suggested that Akram had expressed concerns over the inclusion of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf in the ICC Champions Trophy squad. The selection of players like Ashraf, Khushdil Shah, and Tayyab Tahir has sparked debate, particularly with the exclusion of Aamer Jamal and Irfan Khan Niazi.

As Pakistan gears up for its Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand on February 19, all eyes are now on the squad’s performance as they look to silence their critics and make a strong run for the title.
