Pakistan’s First Ramadan Fast Likely on March 2: Met Department

Pakistan’s First Ramadan Fast Likely on March 2 Met Department

According to the latest forecast by Pakistan’s Meteorological Department, the first fast of Ramadan is expected to fall on March 2. The department’s prediction is based on the upcoming moon sighting, with the crescent unlikely to be visible on February 28, which corresponds to the 29th of Sha’ban.

The new moon will be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM, but by sunset on the 29th of Sha’ban, the moon will only be 13 hours and 12 minutes old. Since the crescent must be at least 19 hours old for it to be visible, the sighting is highly improbable on that evening.

Additionally, the Met Office has predicted partly cloudy to clear skies in various regions of the country on February 29, which could further reduce the chances of moon sighting, leading to the first fast on March 2.
