Muslims in Pakistan and around the world will observe Shab-e-Barat tonight, a sacred night dedicated to seeking forgiveness, praying for the deceased, and asking for divine blessings.
The 15th night of Sha’ban, known as Laylat-ul-Bara’ah, is believed to be when Allah SWT determines individuals’ destinies for the coming year. Mosques across Pakistan will hold special Nawafil, Quran recitations, and supplications throughout the night.

Islamic scholars will deliver sermons encouraging people to engage in repentance and self-reflection. Many Muslims will also observe a voluntary fast on Friday, February 14, as a mark of devotion.
In preparation for the occasion, security measures have been intensified in major cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. Special traffic arrangements have been implemented around mosques and graveyards, while additional police and Rangers personnel will be deployed at key locations to maintain law and order.
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has issued safety guidelines for mosque committees to ensure smooth religious gatherings. Meanwhile, municipal authorities will carry out cleaning drives at graveyards in observance of the event.
