Pakistan cricket legend Mohammad Yousuf has named New Zealand and India as the most balanced teams ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with New Zealand emerging as the standout side.
Yousuf praised the Black Caps for their well-rounded squad, highlighting their three quality fast bowlers, strong spinners, and solid batting lineup. He also acknowledged India’s balanced side but pointed out that Pakistan could have the advantage of playing in home conditions.

“New Zealand looks like the most balanced side. They have a well-rounded squad suited for subcontinent conditions,” said Yousuf. “Pakistan has the edge because they are familiar with the conditions.”
Yousuf also lauded the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for completing stadium renovations ahead of the event, expressing his excitement about Pakistan hosting the tournament for the first time in 29 years.
He advised the Pakistan team to rotate the strike effectively and tackle spin well, citing the team’s previous struggles against New Zealand’s spinners in the tri-series final.
As for match scores, Yousuf expected totals of 300 on double-paced pitches and 350-400 on flat tracks. He believes Pakistan can benefit from playing in familiar conditions but emphasized the importance of a strategic approach to the game.
Pakistan, the defending champions, will open the tournament against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19, before facing India in Dubai on February 23.
