A police officer in Karachi faced disciplinary action after assaulting a fruit seller, sparking widespread outrage.
The incident occurred in the Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan area, where an on-duty officer, Constable Zafar, along with three associates, physically attacked a street vendor. Footage of the incident showed the vendor’s young daughter watching in terror as her father was violently beaten.

The confrontation began when the seller objected to Constable Zafar taking a melon from his stall without permission. The situation quickly escalated, leading to physical assault and verbal abuse by the officer.
The video of the incident went viral, triggering public anger and demands for police accountability. In response to the outcry, SSP Central Irfan Baloch dismissed Constable Zafar from service, while the three other officers involved were suspended.
Senior police officials condemned the act, stating that an inquiry is underway to assess the extent of misconduct and determine if further disciplinary measures are needed.
