New Zealand Set 204 Target in Third T20I Against Pakistan

New Zealand posted an imposing total of 204 runs in the third T20I against Pakistan at Eden Park, Auckland, on Friday, with Mark Chapman leading the charge. His explosive 94 off just 44 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and 4 sixes, was the standout performance, putting Pakistan’s bowlers under pressure throughout the innings.

Pakistan’s decision to bowl first seemed promising early on as Shaheen Shah Afridi removed Finn Allen for a duck. Tim Seifert contributed 19 runs before falling to Haris Rauf, but Chapman’s aggressive batting turned the tide in New Zealand’s favor. Partnering with Daryl Mitchell (17), Chapman anchored the innings, accelerating the scoring despite regular breakthroughs from Pakistan.

Haris Rauf was Pakistan’s best bowler, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in his four overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed both claimed two wickets each, while Abbas Afridi also impressed with figures of 2-24. However, New Zealand managed to surpass 200 runs, bolstered by late cameos from Michael Bracewell (31) and Ish Sodhi (10).

Chasing 205, Pakistan faces a daunting task to keep the five-match series alive, having already lost the first two games. A win here is crucial for them to stay in contention.
