Christian Brose, President of defense start-up Anduril, expressed optimism about the Trump administration’s willingness to rethink defense strategies and adopt new technologies. Speaking at the Australian International Air Show, Brose said the administration’s focus on low-cost, autonomous defense systems aligns well with Anduril’s goals.
Brose, a former aide to Senator John McCain, noted that Anduril’s founder, Palmer Luckey, has been a long-time supporter of Donald Trump, which has helped the company build strong ties with the administration. Anduril’s partnership with OpenAI, announced in December, aims to enhance national security missions through advanced artificial intelligence.

The company is also expanding its manufacturing capabilities, including a new factory in Ohio, with plans to grow outside the U.S. as well. Australia is a key focus, where Anduril is testing its AI systems and bidding for local defense contracts.
Brose highlighted the growing role of autonomous systems like the Ghost Shark underwater machine, which offers faster production and lower costs compared to traditional crewed submarines. These systems could complement Australia’s plans to acquire nuclear-powered submarines under the AUKUS treaty.
