Earthquake tremors shook Swat and nearby Mingora early today, causing widespread panic among residents. People rushed into the streets, with some taking refuge in open spaces, though no casualties or property damage have been reported.
The Seismic Center confirmed the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 64 kilometers. Its epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range, an area known for frequent seismic activity.

Although the tremors lasted only a short time, their intensity was enough to unsettle the population, especially following last week’s powerful quake that affected Islamabad, Peshawar, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The previous tremors had already heightened anxiety, with many people hurriedly leaving their homes and praying for safety.
Swat, a region historically susceptible to earthquakes, experienced another reminder of its seismic vulnerability. Local authorities have not yet provided updates, but residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety procedures in case of further aftershocks.
